We have more time! 2020 Census deadline extended

Based on a Federal Court ruling, the 2020 Census deadline has been extended to October 31, 2020. An appeal has also already been filed that may impact this new date, but for now it is hopeful we can use this extra time to get more responses.

As you know, the Census is important. Every uncounted person translates into a loss of $2,000 in revenue per year over 10 years. Over the next decade, even a 5% undercount means $272 million in lost funding. With less than two weeks to go, the Santa Cruz County Census Complete Count Committee is continuing to ramp up outreach efforts in an effort to make sure all community members are counted.

It can be filled out online at 2020Census.gov or by phone using 844-330-2020. Santa Cruz County is currently at a 70.9% self-response rate, which is great, but there is still time to increase this number! Learn more about response rates
